Tonight was the first district game of the 2011 season. It was a resounding 12-5 victory! It is so much fun to watch Perry coach. I know his signals, but trying to get in his head and figure out why he makes a decision during a game keeps me on my toes. There's never a dull moment at a Burleson softball game.

And now, as I wait for him to get home, I am filled with joy at the thought of another season of breaking down games, scouting, and, hopefully, a very deep playoff run. It is a bonding time for us as well as a time to truly appreciate the common ground that first drew us to each other.

If you're ever at a Lady Elk softball game, I'll be the one in the stands gazing at the good looking man in the coach's box giving signals. Come sit by me and I'll tell you what's about to happen and then we'll yell together, "Elks have Antlers!"

Meet Truth!

This is Truth. We got him just before Christmas. As sweet as he is, I have found myself telling my husband (multiple times), "I can't handle the Truth!" We had his ears done in January. This was very traumatic as it was the first time we've been through this particular experience. We plan on showing him, so it had to be done, but it was still hard. Maybe this is why I've never had show dogs. His personality is fantastic and I think he'll do well. I'll just be grateful when (fingers crossed) he champions out, so he can spend his days wooing the ladies!

Dog Show

So we recently went to a dog show in Alexandria. I took these pics of the white standard poodles not because I want one, but because I knew my friend would love them....and she did. We saw a huge variety of dogs and I think I know what I want our next pet to be: either a yorkie or a mastiff. I know that sounds crazy. Before we went I was set on a yorkie, but after seeing the mastiff, well I just fell in love. I think Perry's open to it. He showed me pictures of mastiff puppies this week. I guess we'll see. I'm curious to see how a mastiff and Milton would get along. I think despite the size difference, Milton would still rule the kingdom!

Future Site of the Lake House

We went to the lake last weekend and I snapped a few photos. We're still working on a plan with the builder, but it is beautiful and Perry says the fishing is great. I don't know how much I care about that, but thinking of reading a great book by the pool (he promised...I think to lessen the frustration of him being gone fishing all the time) and occassionally looking out at this view is very exciting.

Christmas with Baron and Bryce

We got to spend some wonderful time with Baron and Bryce over Christmas. With everyone's busy schedules, it gets very difficult so we were extremely grateful and blessed for the time with them. The highlight was the Wii challenge. Bryce played all of us at one thing or another. Let's just say that while he was winning, it was a party. If he had trouble at all, he would get very frustrated. I think he takes after Papa Perry. He doesn't handle losing very gracefully! I took a couple of pictures of Bryce and Perry. Baron was a little camera shy. I'll have to be a bit more sneaky next time.
